Slovakia will Ask for Venice Commission’s Opinion about Language Law
RSI, RSI
The Slovak Republic will submit its application to the European Commission for Democracy through Law (the Venice Commission) requesting a legal opinion on the State Language Act in its valid wording. According to the press department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, this is another step that would lead to a preference of pragmatic perception of the whole matter over its inappropriate politicization. The European Commission for Democracy through Law, better known as the Venice Commission, is the Council of Europe’s advisory body on constitutional matters. Established in 1990, the commission has played a leading role in the adoption of constitutions that conform to the standards of Europe’s constitutional heritage.
