Slovakia Succeeded to Defend its State Language Act, Says Minister
RSI, RSI
Culture Minister Marek Madaric said on Sunday that Slovakia succeeded to defend itself and the state language law while Hungarians turned out as liars. According to the minister the Slovak-Hungarian dispute in this area is a “historical matter for Slovakia”. He considers the conclusion of the dispute a marvelous triumph of Slovak diplomacy and also a success in the fields of minority rights, law and internal policy. Daniel Lipsic, his opponent from the Christian Democrats, however, opposed that he does not consider the language law to be the most important issue. “There are things the state should not intervene in,” he said pointing at compulsory dubbing in Slovak anchored in the act. Mr. Lipsic said that the crisis for which regular people will pay is of core importance.
