The government has decided to elect a new candidate for Prosecutor General, adding to the long-running drama in the search for a candidate. Prime Minister Robert Fico announced this and added that Jozef Čentéš is no longer a candidate for the post and that there never existed an obstacle to electing a new candidate.

Unemployment in Slovakia Fell in April

Bucking a European trend, the numbers of unemployed citizens in Slovakia fell in April compared to March by 0.27 percentage points to a total of 14.41 percent according to the minister of Labour, Social Affairs, and Family Jan Richter.

Interior Ministry Plans to Track Slovak Citizens’ Movement Abroad

Slovak citizens who will travel abroad for more than 90 days after January 1, 2014 will be obliged to notify the relevant registry office in the place of their permanent residence, otherwise he/she will commit a misdemeanour and may be fined.  This is according to an amendment to the law on reporting the residence of Slovak citizens which was approved on Thursday.
